Fan Encounters

Have you met Gale? Feel free to share your experience with us!

JUSTINE: So I went to see Suddenly Last Summer Saturday December 2nd. The play was wonderful, Blythe and Carla were amazing. Gale especially was amazing. It was witty and had me laughing a couple of times. So after the play was finished I never thought Gale would come out because I’ve read so many stories of people seeing the play and he disappeared and avoided the public. BUT not today. Because today, I and my friend Gianna MET GALE HIMSELF! He was holding a donation box and he was as beautiful as ever. I asked him to sign my playbill and surprisingly he agreed to. but I had my camera out to ask him and he simply said “Please no pictures.” so unfortunately I have no pictures with him. But I did speak with him briefly telling him how wonderful he was and he thanked me. and just him signing my playbill is the best thing I could ask for ever. I also met Carla too and she signed my playbill. But it was the best day of my life :) I’m on Cloud 9.

ELAINE ARABATZIS: Okay, so yesterday I went and saw “Suddenly Last Summer” with Heather and I did the unimaginable..I met Gale Harold! *dies*

We left my house at 6am, and got to NYC around 2pm. The first thing we did was go collect our tickets. So we went and got them, and I saw a few ushers hanging around the area. Okay, no big deal. So we go walking around the city for a few hours. Okay, so 6pm rolls around. Heather and I go and stand inside the entry way waiting to be able to be seated in the theater. Then Ericka (my myspace buddy) comes in and I meet her and her mother (who’s super cool). So the four of us are standing there talking and what not. Then I drift off to the side, because I saw an usher..and this usher seemed to be pretty high up in ranking. So I walked up to him very suave and casual and started talking to him. I was like, “Excuse me..but do you think its possible to meet any of the actors tonight after the play?” and he smiled at me and he was like, “Well who did you want to meet?” and I smiled back and was like, “GALE HAROLD! =] because I came out here for my birthday all the way from WEST VIRGINIA and this is ALL that I want!” and then he was like, “eh..I dunno about that. Lately he has been sneaking out a different way avoiding fans because he’s had a few bad encounters with them, but… I’ll throw in a good word for you.” (LOL I was deff warming up to the guy). So I thanked my usher friend (I wont say his name lol), and then walked back to Heather and Ericka and kept on chatting with them.

The whole time I’m chatting with Ericka and Heather, my usher friend was listening in on me and hearing what I was all about, he was paying close attention to my conversation with Ericka. Okay so finally they let us go downstairs to sit and wait in the “coffee lounge”. Now, by this time Ericka and I are wigging out and rambling on and on about Gale Harold and fantisizing about getting the chance to meet him. Everybody just stared at us the whole time..we deff made a scene. So after about waiting for another hour, we were allowed to go in the theater. For anyone who hasn’t been yet, this theater is VERY small. So no matter where you sit, you feel like you are in front row. I was in row L seat number 13,(This show was sold out too might I add). I sat next to some old lady who started telling me how she went to high school with blythe danner O_o. Okay so then finally the play starts. Gale of course walks out right away with Blythe Danner. And let me just say…I don’t even remember what the play was about. Why you wonder?…because I was too busy starring at him to even pay attention to the play. The one part in the play that stood out in my mind was when Carla planted gale with a big KISS!!! *grrrr* LoL every woman in there gasped and Gale began to laugh because we all gasped the same time..lol it was so funny. It seemed to me that Gale was a bit stiff (not in that way!) with his performance during the play. Like he wasn’t as relaxed as everybody else, and it showed. But I didn’t care, because I was too busy gazing at him to even care about it. Once the play finished, I jumped over the other seats (No lie) and RAN OUT THE DOOR and back upstairs to my usher buddy. I went up to my usher buddy and I was like, “Can I meet him? can I can I can I? =]” and my usher buddy was like, “Um..I don’t know. Gale isn’t going to come out toni…. um…well how about this. How about you write him a letter and see if you can get him to change his mind.” (he was trying not to say that Gale didn’t want to come out tonight, so he cut himself off midway and mentioned the letter idea to me.)

So my usher buddy brought out a piece of paper for me and he was like, “I dont have a pen tho..” and I whipped mine out like instantly and was like, “I GOT MINE!” lol he laughed at me and handed me the paper and I wrote Gale this letter…(YOU WILL SEE AN ACTUAL PICTURE OF THE LETTER AT THE END OF MY STORY!). So I hand the letter to my usher buddy and they sent it down to Gale =]. Okay so then my usher buddy kindly told us that we had to wait outside. So we went outside and waited. First, Blythe Danner came out. And I got her autograph and a picture of her. I didn’t want a picture taken with her, so I just let her walk off. Then Wayne Wilcox came out, and not ONE person stopped him for his autograph..lmao! Next was Carla Gugino, which might I add did an amazing job acting. So I got her autograph and got a picture of her taken as well. I didn’t pose with her tho, because I wasn’t interested..lol. Okay so now it was the moment of truth. I kept smiling and starring at my usher buddy. And he kept talking in his headset. And deep down, I had this feeling that Gale would come out because of that letter that i wrote him. So 15 min rolls by..and nothing. Then all of the sudden the door opens and ITS GALE!!!! *dies*. I was so happy. I was happy because my letter got him to come out to us. Because he was going to duck out the back way like he originially planned..but MY LETTER OBVIOUSLY CHANGED HIS MIND!!! *passes out*.

So I got his autograph and I was too shocked to say anything to him..lol I just sorta stared at him. The whole time my usher friend kept saying, “NO PICTURES, NO VIDEO CAMERA’S NO CELL PHONE CAMERAS!!” and then some idiot from the peanut gallery took a picture and gale was like, “no pictures please”. I wanted a picture so bad, but I was going to respect his wishes and not ask him for it. Okay now for anyone who hasn’t seen him in person, HE’S SO GORGEOUS! He looks wayyyyy better in person. He has very pretty eyes as well. Gale was really shy when he came out. He kept his head down the whole time. AND EVERYBODY KEPT ASKING ME TO USE MY MARKER *grrrr*!! So I had to keep handing it back to Gale. and he dropped it like 4 times. Needless to say, my marker has Gale’s finger prints on it…*sends pen to lab for finger print identification* lol. So Gale finally finishes and he just walks off into the dark down an ally..which was kinda interesting because all the other actors left in cars and all. Then he turned the corner and he was gone *poof*! I was so happy after that..I was walking on cloud nine. Heather and I didn’t get home until 4 am. I was up for 22 hrs straight…yea so I’m kinda dead at the moment. But that’s my story. For anyone who’s going to go see him, good luck trying to meet him..I was just lucky enough to know how to coax up to the usher.

MARIANNA: My friend and I went to see Suddenly Last Summer on Saturday, December 2. We went to the matinee performance. At first we waited outside, and it was freezing. We were so cold we didn’t even notice Blythe Danner and Carlo Gugino walk by us! Actually, I did notice Blythe, but my friend didn’t believe me. We were told that Gale would not be coming out, but a couple of minutes later; there he was. He looked irritated when he saw us. He said he wouldn’t take pictures, but he’d sign autographs. One girl was taping him and he asked her twice to stop and erase it. Why is he so stern? Well, regardless, he’s very sexy, and I got his autograph. I also think he thought I was an idiot because I asked him if he had a tatoo on his finger, but it was just ink! There was an older woman there in a wheelchair and he was very sweet and kind towards her. It was touching to see.

CONNIE: So my husband and son gave me what had to be the greatest gift ever. Tickets for Suddenly Last Summer. It was great! I had read from others below that I might have the opportunity to meet with Gale after the show so I was super excited when I opened my gift on Christmas morning. What more could a 34 year old mother and student want than the opportunity to meet her dream man!!? (No offense to my husband. He is cute but, let’s face it girls Gale is in a class by himself!).

So 12/26 was the date for my tickets. I had a little more than a day to prepare to meet him. I had to get my nerves in check and try to come up with something to say when I met him. The whole next day I could feel my nerves getting the best of me. I cleaned the house from top to bottom and jokingly teased my husband and 4 year old son that I would never be returning home (just wanted to prepare them in case I should decide to follow Gale around for the rest of my days. Kind of like a puppy dog.)

When I got to the theatre later that evening I became even more nervous. Almost giddy. I felt 14 years old again. I sat in my seat and tried to patiently wait for him to come on to the stage. “WOW” is all I can say when he came out. I was shocked at how tall and how even more beautiful he was in person. I enjoyed the play. It was wonderful but, I must admit, I found myself staring at him for the full 90 minutes.

Now, the show is over and my chance to meet him is here. I ran out of my seat leaving my mother and aunt in the dust so I could be out in front of the theatre to wait for him. It didn’t take very long for him to come out. I purposely didn’t bring a camera as I didn’t not wish to cause him any grief but, man I wished I had one. He came out the door and came over to me first (I died on the spot). I handed him my Playbill and asked him to sign it. I only had a regular ball point pen. I had forgotten my marker in the car. So when I handed him the Playbill I gave had it opened to the white page with the Lancome add facing him. I wanted to be sure I would see his signature. He said to me laughing “Do you want me to sign it here?” I said “Yes please because if you sign it on the cover then I won’t be able to see it.” He said “O.K.” and proceeded to sign.

He was so sweet and very soft spoken. He had a shyness about him (I love shy guys!!!)

After he signed my Playbill he proceeded to sign others but, on all the others he wrote the name of the person it was for. I was so frustrated. I didn’t have him write “To Connie” on mine. So in a flash I thought quickly and grabbed my mother and her Playbill and pushed her towards Gale She said “What are you doing?” I said “Ma, have him sign yours and ask him to write it to me.” and that is exactly what she did. He said “Who would you like this for?” and she said “Connie” So he wrote “For Connie, Love Gale Harold” on hers. MY MOM IS THE BEST!!!

After all was said and done and it was time for him to leave I touched his shoulder and thanked him for making “My Christmas sooo Merry!” He said “Your welcome” and smiled. He then crossed 46th street and proceeded around the corner to 6th Ave. I couldn’t believe he was just walking the streets of NYC by himself. I wanted to follow him where ever he was going but, I believe that would be considered “stalking”. So I settled for just getting my car and going home What a wonderful night and what a great gift from my husband and son. Thanks to them, I can die happy now and with a smile on my face. Thanks to Gale for being super sweet and very nice to all the fans that were out there on 12/26. You are both beautiful inside and out Gale!! Who could not love you???

KATIE: I went to see Suddenly Last Summer on January 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th, and I saw Gale outside all 4 times. The first night I actually talked to him and he signed a picture that I drew of Brian and Justin kissing, you can see that here! I was so happy, and then I complimented his shoes LOL Then he told me the drawing was great and yeah. It was one of the top experiences of my life. The second night I just sat and watched his beauty, but my mom talked to him. The third night I went up to him again, more nervous than the first time and got two more autographs. Finally, the last day I saw the play, I sat down and just watched him from afar, or rather from the side. Gale actually started arguing with some guy about taking his picture, he was really pissed! But I’m so happy I got to go to New York and see Gale 4 times instead of 2 like I had originally planned.

The man is SO nice. He almost seems nervous while talking to you. You really can’t believe how beautiful he is in real life until you see him. It’s like…breathtaking. I almost couldn’t get out words when I was around him. So surreal. Needless to say I had an amazing time and Mr. Gale Harold is the nicest most perfect man on the face of the planet. :)

CHELSEA: Alrighty…well I am unbelievably happy that I am one of the lucky ones who gets to share my experience of meeting the fabulous Gale. Well, for my birthday, my mother and i went to New York just to see the play. It also helps that I am pretty much in love with the city and its my favorite place to go for any vacation.

Well went and saw the play last saturday night….and of course, it was amazing. He was in almost every act, and so it was nice just to see him on stage…and not in front of the screen.

Anyway, cut to what you guys are actually wanting to read. My mom and I came out of the theatre and I wasn’t too sure if i was going to meet him or not. So i just kind of waited around, to see if anyone else was going to wait….and there were so many people to see just him…it was kind of amazing to see. Before the actors came out, the security guard made it very clear that Gale Harold requests there be no pictures of him. Which, of course everyone respected. He came out right after Miss Danner (who by the way, has to be one of the most down to earth person I have ever met) and i just waited…he started all the way at the front of the line…and i was at the end, so i was able just to take it in and brace myself and not be nervous (i have met, fab, thea and hal in the past and have been so incredibly crazy nervous…i told myself i wouldnt be that way if i ever had the chance to meet gale) anyway…so he came up to me…and you could tell he was just ready to get out of there….and i told him how much i appreciated his work in films and how amazing he was that night (and yes, he was incredibly amazing) and he thanked me and smiled…and it was unbelievably surreal. He signed my ticket and I shook his hand….(got to see the tattoo…so pretty haha) and thanked him for his time. He smiled once again (uh…i died of amazment) and just went off. Actually there was this girl that he met…she looked as if she were waiting for him. She gave him a hug and they went off on their way.

He was amazing…very soft spoken but we all knew that about him. I still can’t believe i met him. You know how you just go over the thought of meeting the one person you just…WANT to meet over and over and over in your head…and when the chance actually comes….its something you can’t even explain.

Anyway…if you have the chance…go see the play. If not for the story or the chance to see two other amazing actors..then just for that man we all love.

LAURA: I am happy to report that I had a fantastic encounter! I went to see SLS Wednesday night, January 10th. I got into the city late afternoon to pick up my tickets. There was a matinee of the show that day that was ending shortly, so I thought I’d take a chance and hang outside the theater for a while in the event that I might see Gale. Soon enough, people were walking out the theater as the show was over and some started to wait in front of the theater in hopes of meeting Gale. I saw Wayne Wilcox and Becky, two of the lesser known actors, walk out. No one really even noticed them;( No sign of Carla or Blythe, and I heard the security guard say that sometimes the actors won’t come out after a show if they have another show that night. Instead, the actors might stay there and rest between shows. Anyway, about 20 minutes later, Gale walks out! It was surreal and unbelievable. I stood aside from the group of people that had their playbills ready for him to sign, since I figured that it wasn’t my turn and I would hopefully see him after the show that night that I was attending. Well, we all think of Gale as HOT, GORGEOUS and SEXY – and he absolutely is! However, what struck me was that he had such an innocence about him, and a completely youthful appearance. Not the Gale we’re used to seeing. He was wearing a peacoat and cap, so you couldn’t see his hair – just his lovely, boyish face. I’m sure this is to help him blend into the city when he wants to get around. Anyway, he was courteous and pleasant, and gave people the time of day. It was so nice and amazing to see as I observed from just a few feet away! It wasn’t a huge crowd, so after he signed the Playbills, he looked around to see if he missed anyone that wanted his autograph, then quietly walked away.

Finally, it was time for me to go to the 7:30 show that night. I couldn’t wait! I was so excited to see the show, but even more excited about the possibility of meeting him afterwards. The show really was great. Carla was amazing, but in all honesty, Gale was fantastic in his role, too. The show ended at 9, so I walked out in front of the theater. Again, not a huge crowd, so that was good. My husband had come with me, as he tolerates my Gale crush :) He stood in the back with the other husbands and mom’s who were there for moral support, ha ha. Carla and Blythe both walked out and were so appreciative to everyone and thanked them for coming to see the show. Then, finally, the moment I had been dreaming of for months….out walks Gale!!! He looked adorable again in his cap, coat and jeans. I was kind of in the middle of the meet and greet line, standing next to some tall guy. On the other side of me was a nice girl from Germany. We were talking about how excited we were and how we didn’t know what to say to him as we watched him coming down the line and talking to the others. Before I knew it, there he was, standing right in front of me, just inches away. Inside, I was gushing, but had to stay cool on the outside. So I just said, “Hey, Gale!” sort of quietly, and he looked right at me with a huge smile and gave me an enthusiastic, “Hi !”. I just couldn’t believe it and it threw me because I kept hearing about him being more shy and soft spoken. Soft spoken he was, but not too shy! So I handed him my Playbill and marker and as he was signing it, I just told him that he made a great performance. He said, “Thanks”, smiled and handed the marker back to me. I then gave it back to him to sign the Playblill of the girl next to me since she didn’t have a pen. So when he was finished signing hers, he gave the pen back to her and she was talking to him for a while. I just stared at him, but was sure to get my pen back:) So as he was listening to her, I softly reached to get my pen from her. Gale saw this, but I think saw my diamond ring too – oops! Anyway, there were several people in line after that. Again, he didn’t seem annoyed or trying to rush out of there, so that was nice to see. He then shook the hand of the security guard and thanked him. Then he turned and walked passed us again – all smiles! I must say that I had never seen him smiling so much – guess it was a good night for him too! He walked off, all of us watching until we couldn’t see him in the distance. WOW – what an experience I will never forget! I went in hopes of meeting him, but never thought it would be that good. I’m still on cloud nine, and replaying the experience in my head a thousand times; but I think I’m going through a little Gale withdrawl;))
To top off the night, my husband took me to "Splash" - the "Babylon" of NYC! Yes, it's a gay club with strobe lights, scantilly clad go-go boys and plenty of thumpa thumpa! Not quite as cool as Babylon, but a great time. It was the best birthday I ever had, and the most exciting experience of my life. I feel so lucky! Gale is awesome!

SANDRA: Hi all, just a little something before I write my full experience of my trip to New York I arrived on 9th, checked into the hotel, my luggage did not arrive! aaaarrrgggghhh! what do you mean I have to meet Gale in dirty jeans??! ! ! ! anyway I was seeing the play that evening so had to quickly buy some more clothes. Could not find trousers or jeans so yes, dirty jeans. It was steam pressed! Anyway we get to the theatre and our seats. I am on the right in a seat in the 2nd row. He comes out and WOW! I cant get over the fact that he is there 3-10 feet away from me at any given moment.I have died and gone to heaven! I enjoyed the play and knew the story anyway so I could concentrate on him! when he came over to my side of the stage I sat on my hands and stared, heart beating out of my chest! Holding my breath. THE MAN iS AWESOME! But we all know that right? As someone else mentioned he could have been painting for an hour and a half for all I cared! I would have watched! Anyway the play ended and we waited outside for him. My god, he is so tall, his skin is beautiful, he is soft spoken and wow! He signed my program. I think I said I enjoyed the play and he said thank you so much, but i really don’t remember..I know I looked into his eyes.phew! I was gone. I thanked him and walked away literally shaking! then we just watched him continue signing and then he was gone like a gazelle up the road! I will give a full description of my other times of meeting him as soon as I get it straight in my head. I will say that on another occasion, I had not seen the play was just waiting to see him come out and then decided to wait on the corner in case he came my way, just to be close to him. Well imagine my surprise when I peeked round the corner and HE WAS COMiNG MY WAY! I waited till he walked one step past me and called out goodnite gale, he did not respond, so I said gale a little louder and he turned round. I said goodnite gale, he smiled and said goodnite and then took off like a bat out of hell across the street and down the road! He sure can move. He is definately like a gazelle! So I meet him the next evening and get him to sign a program
for my neighbours and I apologise for startling him on the corner. He looks me straight in the eyes and says with a grin, I wasn’t scared! I am still in heaven. The man is truly beautiful beyond words. I am so glad I got the chance to meet him and actually not melt into a puddle. I mean I could actually string words together in his presence! Hope you enjoyed some of my experiences and as I say I will try to give a more full account later.

LOLI: This will certainly be the only report from France… This Saturday 13th I did my first trip to NYC, I went basically to meet Mr Harold and give him something very important This can sound crazy but now I’m very happy I did it. So I went to the performance of 7.30pm, and to be honest I didn’t enjoy the play that much. It’s surely explainable by the fact that even though I have a pretty good level of English comprehension, D. Blythe spoke very fast and I couldn’t understand half of the things she said. Carla Gugino was amazing and G. Harold was very good as well, considering he couldn’t do that much with his character who had nothing special about him, you know. Not a Kyle or a Harold or even a Morrison, for those who saw the movies. But anyway, Dr Sugar needed some acting and Gale Harold did what he had to do to make him seem real.

Well now I come to the part which interests you the most: it had seemed to me that most of the audience was composed by people in their fifties and more (and nobody reacted when Carla Gugino kissed Mr Harold on the mouth, which I think confirms my belief ;-) ), but outside were waiting many young people, obviously QAF fans, only for HIM. I knew thanks to Gale Online and another site that Mr. Harold (I can’t call him just “Gale”) came out almost every evening a few minutes after the play, that’s why I took my chance. But I didn’t think it would be through the front door! First a big Black guy came and told us: “No pictures of Gale Harold”. Fine, I already knew that and hadn’t brought my camera.

THEN he came with a couple of persons who quietly left, while he came directly to his fans for signing autographs. He wore a cute cap which hid is blonde hair and gave him the look of a teenage boy. He was separated from us by a bar though. As I said, I had something very important to give him, not a fan thing, and I felt in the same time bold enough to shoot George W. Bush and shyier that I had ever been. Strange cocktail but it explains that I didn’t exactly wait my turn…. afterwards I feel very sorry about that because it may have seemed rude to other people, but as I said I was not with my usual state of mind!! There’s also the fact that he clearly moved to the right the street ) after each autograph, it could have been to indicate he was hurried and I couldn’t take the risk to let him go without giving him my stuff.

This evening he seemed a bit moody or tired compared to what I had read about previous encounters, but I might be wrong and be the only one who felt that way. I was not exactly fine in my shoes either when I first asked him two autographs for a couple of fans met on a French message board (www.qaf.fr). I asked the autographs in a so crappy English that he didn’t understand in the first place, and during one second I wished I could disappear in a mice hole. But I managed to tell him with a robot voice that in the packet I carried was a story written by a friend of mine who hadn’t been able to go to NY with me, and that she wanted this story to be a movie one day! The main character of the story has more or less been written for him, that’s why she wanted him to read it first. But that I couldn’t explain, I just claimed she had contacts who could help this project come true (and it’s true, she has), he promised he would read it (she wanted me to ask), and I thanked him and ran away because he was looking at me as if I was sort of a E.T, which I can’t blame him for… Then I realized that I forgot to tell him the story was not finished yet, so I tried to put myself together and came back to the pit, to ask him an official address where we could send him the rest of the story. He told me the theatre address, as they will forward him the mails even when the play is over. As I thanked him again he said “you’re welcome” and smiled to me this time, a very sweet and kind smile, not a despising one you know, and I ran away like a coward without even saying goodbye.

So that was the report of my biggest personal success coupled with my most awful shame. I will never regret this trip: I could have been rejected or mocked but I was not, I have accomplished my mission and besides, I made two friends out of this trip! And as all that happened in NYC, I take this as a symbol, just like I hoped it would be.

ERICKA: FIRST NIGHT

This wasn’t my first time flying to New York to see Mr. Harold (lol). Not to say that I wasn’t still ecstatic about seeing him again, ’cause trust me, I was. My mom and I arrived in the city at about 5:30pm, which I was very thankful for. Seeing as how I had read so many times that Gale arrived for the evening show at about 6pm. So I rushed to get our bags up to our room and quickly changed my coat and shoes and headed over to the theatre (which by the way is right across the street from us…picture later). Anyway…my mom and I were standing in front of the theatre at exactly 6pm and were waiting. When my mom decided to go inside and pick up our tickets for the Saturday evening show. As I was standing outside looking around for Gale I thought maybe I should call my friend Elaine and talk to her for a bit. So as I am looking for her phone number (which I had to go through a very long voice message to get lol) I see two guys coming around the corner of the theatre from 7th st. Then it hit me that it was Gale! I couldn’t believe it; before I even had time to get my mind to start working again he had already entered the building. Thankfully he was stopped by some girl who wanted to see if he could sign something for her before the show. And the whole time my mom is standing right behind him getting our tickets. I’m looking at her and stomping my feet and saying to myself “turn around…turn around.” So I head up to the window next to where she is and start to lightly tap on it ( I didn’t want Gale to see me doing it lol) after she didn’t see me I thought that maybe she knew he was there and when she turned around she would say something to him. As soon as I looked up again HE WAS GONE! I looked away for like a second and he just went POOF! My mom and I just decided that we should head back to the hotel and we could go see him again after the show. So at about 9:15ish we make our way back over to the theatre and when we got there, there were about 5 people already waiting outside for him. One girl even had a huge picture of his headshot, kind of creepy. Anyway this time I just kind of stood off to the side and watched him sign autographs seeing as how I had two other times of seeing him. Of course you had the people who wouldn’t listen to Gale when he asked not to have pictures taken, but what’s new? I’m standing at the end of the line practically and he’s heading my way, and even though I have nothing for him to sign he looks at me and smiles and I just sort of shake my head and he goes to the next person. As he’s getting closer and closer the crowd of people are too, so I am being pushed towards him even more so I am trying to get out of the crowd and I notice the woman that came out with him and Wayne Wilcox (the actor who played the brother in the play) as I am making my way over toward her I see her watching everyone around Gale and she looks like she is getting pissed. So I stayed clear lol. After Gale was done signing he and the woman waiting for him stood at the curb waiting for a car to come pick them up. I think they were a little confused at first because there were three cars that were exactly the same and Gale sat there trying to figure out which one was his. I kind of laughed and I think he heard me and kind of got a little embarrassed (sorry Gale). That ended the first night of me seeing Gale, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything…well maybe for another WHOLE night with him lmgo!

OH! I also met Michele (aka Roam) from Myspace this night…she was very sweet. I wish you would have gotten a picture with him. Oh well, maybe next time.

THE SECOND DAY/NIGHT:

The next day my mom and I woke up around 9 and decided that we would try to catch Gale before the 2pm show. So we got ready and headed downstairs at about 12:50ish and started walking to the theatre. It took us literally about 10 seconds to walk there and by the time we got to the front there were already people lining up to see the show. My mom and I decided to wait for a little bit in front of the theatre. At about 1:10 I got my mom to walk down to the corner of 46th st and 6th ave. We waited there for about 5-10 minutes and decided that we would once again just see him after the show. So we just went shopping until 3:30. After the 2pm show let out I noticed there were A LOT more girls waiting outside for him. One girl I met named Kristen had been at the theatre the night before too. We talked for a little bit before he came out and we stood at the end of the line and waited for him (for a full on report about Gale during this time go here [insert Brynne's myspace]). I had brought my picture of the “WYATT EARP TUB” that I took for Gale to sign, while Kristen had her season 2 box cover and her cell phone(which Gale said when he signed it “this won’t make it work any better” funny.*rolls eyes* lmgo!) My mom then went and gave him a present she had gotten him and had asked him to open it to make sure he liked it which he replied with “I’m sure I will.” For $100 he BETTER! J My mom got a little peeved that he didn’t open it, but I explained the he probably doesn’t do it in front of other fans. After he took my mom’s gift he turned and asked Malik (yup that’s right I made a friend out of another guard/usher person lol) to see if he could take the presents he received (I don’t know who the other one was from) inside the theatre for him but decided to just do it himself. My mom and I had to do some errands before the show that night so we said goodbye to Kristen and her mom and headed off to run around New York City.

I returned to my hotel room at about 5pm to start getting ready for the play. I couldn’t believe that I was about to see the last performance. I started walking to the theatre at about 6pm and stood outside for a little bit hoping to see Gale before hand, no luck. My mom was still at the hotel getting ready. So I went into the lobby of the theatre and waited til they let us go down and sit in the “lounge.” When we were able to go downstairs and sit in the lounge I realized that there were only about 3 people there to actually see the show. I was kind of surprised that there weren’t many FanGale’s there early lol. My mom came in at about 7:15 and went to buy and drink and while up there bought a laminated thing with the “SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER SANGRIA” which he she paid $10 for(totally ripped off) so when she told me that I stole the little one they had on the table, shh don’t tell anyone lmgo!

My mom and I get up and go into the theatre to sit in out seats. This performance was definitely better then the first time I saw it. The actors seemed much more comfortable with each other. I still have Blythe’s line stuck in my head “PRETENTIOUS YOUNG CRACK POT.” And of course Gale’s line “WHAT A TOURCH” *sigh* such a cutie. After the play was done everyone stood up and gave the cast a very deserving standing ovation. My mom and I decided that we had a lot of time to get outside before Gale got out there, so we stayed inside the theatre for a little while. As we were sitting there waiting for the theatre to clear out a little bit we heard the actors backstage give a little yell of “YAY!” I’m guessing they were very happy about the play being done lol.

After most of the people were cleared out my mom and I went to the coat check to pick up her coat and a couple of things we had for Gale to sign (and a bottle of alcohol my mom got for Gale*shakes head*). My mom then started talking to the coat check guy and he told us a little story about opening night. And how when he was talking to Gale he had no idea who is was. He asked Gale what he did and they both laughed a little but then the coat guy then seriously asked “no really, what do you do?” Which I am sure Gale really appreciated, but was kind of shocked that the guy had no idea. I was laughing my butt off the whole time I was listening to this story.

My mom and I then made our way outside and waited for Gale to come out. I met up with Kristen and her mom again. I had gone out earlier and bought New York City shirts (the one Gale wears in his Particles of Truth photo shoot) for Gale to sign. I had 2 and Kristen had hers. We stood outside for about a good 10 minutes and while out there Kristen pointed out this one black girl that had been there the night before and Kristen said that the girl knew Gale somehow. I kept thinking ‘if this is his girlfriend or even a one night stand…I am going to kick him.’ She kind of had an attitude. Anyway, back to Gale. Gale comes out and I swear he just kind of appeared, because I was looking inside the lobby the whole time and never once saw him walk through it. Once again Kristen and I were at the very end of the line, but the guard/usher Malik wanted everyone on the other side of the rope thingies so we all had to move, but of course when Gale made it down our way it really didn’t matter. As Gale came up to Kristen and I he must have recognized us from earlier he gave us a little smile and said “Hi” *dead* Kristen asked Gale to sign her shirt first. As he took the shirt from her he couldn’t figure out how he was going to sign it…so he unfolded it(which I then proceeded to do with mine lol) and signed it on a little post thing. As he looked up to me I handed him the shirts and asked him to sign it. He took the first one signed it and handed it back. I then handed him the other one and he looked at me and said “You have two?” in my head I was like ‘DUH!!!!’ so as he was signing the second one I had to ask him “do you remember about a month ago two girls had written a letter to you about wanting to meet you and promising not to tackle you?” he looked up at me and kind of stared and then said “Yes I do! That was very cute and sweet, thank you!” I seriously almost died right there. GALE REMEMBERED THE LETTER AHHHHH!!

After about 10 minutes of shock I heard a girl behind me saying something about not having an autograph yet…so I turned around and told her “just push your way through. Most of these girls already have one they’re just watching him. Otherwise he won’t get to you.” And for some reason the girl asked “Are you with him?” I stood there like a deer in headlights. I would have given my left arm and leg to say that I was at that moment, but of course I couldn’t lol. So I kindly said “I wish!” and we laughed about it and then she made her way over to him. The rest of the time I just kind of stood off to the side and watched Gale as he was bombarded by girls. At one point I got caught in the crowd and was almost pushed into him. I was so close to him I could smell his cologne….and omagle did he smell goooood *sigh*. Then about 2 seconds later Blythe Danner came out… and oh my lord she was even prettier then I remembered. I got her to get a picture with Kristen and then she made her way over to my mom. I was about to get a picture of the two of them when Gale got in the way. I was about to say to him “Gale could you move please…I want to get a picture of Blythe.” I’m sure that would have bursted his bubble lol. But before I could say anything my mom and Blythe had finished talking. Some girl then asked if she could get a picture of Blythe with Gale so Blythe looked over at Gale who shook his head no at the girl. The girl then proceeded to beg and Blythe just leaned over to where Gale was and said to the girl “JUST TAKE THE PICTURE” and Gale gave Blythe one the NASTIEST looks ever! It was kind of funny. Unfortunately when the girl took the picture Gale had his head down(of course *rolls eyes*). Then after Gale asked if he had missed anyone he and Blythe walked down the street (in the direction of my hotel) and had about 15 people following them. They got down past the theatre a little then crossed the street and headed in the other direction. The whole time Kristen and I are watching the black girl she had mentioned before. She watched them as they headed down the street and around the corner and then started to follow them. So Kristen and I started to follow her. I was sure we were looking like stalkers following another stalker lmgo! When we got down to the corner and didn’t see Gale or Blythe we decided that we would call it a night. We said our goodbyes and headed to our hotels.

All in all…it was a very awesome time! I hope Gale does something in L.A. next that way I am not spending so much money to come and see him lol.

ANDREA: Hi guys. I did go see the play and it was so amazing i was blown away by Carla. It was surreal to see Gale in real life. Anyway after the show we waited outside in the freezing, windy cold which was horrible but I really wanted to meet Gale.. well he came out and by the time he got to me he had already signed a dozen things and a couple people were trying to take pictures, which he was annoyed by(which I still dont get) but my pen wouldnt work so i got his signature but you can barely see it.

I was really bummed and let down because I said hi and tried to tell him I thought he was amazing and so talented and its like he didn’t care, he didn’t even acknowledge it, all he kept doing was tryng to hurry to get the pen to work. After a while I thought about it and I guess I understand I mean do you know how many times he hears that..but still a thank you would have been nice.

All in all I am glad I went and glad that I met him, and I’m not mad anymore because lets face it, he is a celebrity and I guess thats how you have to be sometimes…hes still my favorite actor and I am grateful for the experience.

PAMELA: Hey guys! Ok so, yesterday i went to go see Suddenly Last Summer (at 7:30 pm) which was amazing! Carla did an wonderful job, shes such a good actress. After the play, my sister and I stood outside with about 15-20 other people, and it is freaking cold in New York! I was shaking (from the cold and because i was about to meet the incredible man that stole my heart!). The security man came out first and he said “no pictures of Gale Harold please.” When he came out I almost died! He was wearing a black hat (so you couldnt see his blond hair), a black coat and scarf, black skinny jeans (which showed off his long legs), and brown shoes: hes really very stylish. There was a bar between us and i was like the 4th person he came up to. The 1st time i went up to him i said, “you did a great job” and he said “thanks” and SMILED! wow. his smile has to be the best on this earth! his skin is so smooth and he has dimples and hes just the cutest thing. After that, i was on cloud nine and my sister got another autograph while i was just staring at him. When he turned to leave, i tapped him on his arm lightly and said “can i have a handshake?” lol i swear i sounded like a little school girl! and he said “of course” and smilied AGAIN! and then he turned to leave. *sigh* yesterday was the day of my life. the man is gorgeous! in person he looks so much thinner and so young; it doesnt even look like hes 30 something. Also, it was kinda funny cuz when he speaks to you, he leans in pretty close to your face haha, he did that to everyone. he did seem kind of shy and awkward at times but he was also polite and kind to everyone. it was truely amazing. nothing can top this.

BRYNNE: Okay so, yes, ladies and gentleman. I met Gale Morgan Harold on January 20, 2006. Yes, oh yes. And here’s the story:

My wonderful cousin, Nicole, bought me tickets to see this show for my 20th b-day (which isn’t until March, mind you), Hanakkuh ’06, AND my 21st birthday–that’s how expensive these were. lol. So, I slept over her house the night before and we went to 30th street station to get on an Amtrak to New York. Fast forward the train ride AND the cab, and we’re in Times Square. She asked if I wanted to do shopping or have lunch and all I wanted to do was find the freaking theater and stand outside like an asshole. lmao.

So, we start walking and litteraly, like not even a mile away from the MTV Studios, I spot the big poster for “Suddeny Last Summer” and yell and point. Now, Nicole had no clue who the hell Gale Harold was and I was like, you HAVE to see this man. He’s amazing. The poster comes into view as we got closer and she just goes, “Wow. He’s real easy on the eyes, aint he? He’s gorgous!” And I just started cracking up and going like, “See? I told you!” We went inside and I asked some random guy next to the ticket office if the actors normally come outside to sign stuff after the shows. He said that it’s iffy especially after a matinee and I’m like, “Hey. Is there anything I can do for you so you can maybe have Gale Harold come out?” And he just looks and me and goes, “Uh, no.” Yeah, I tried.

We went to lunch, went back into the theater and I had forgotten that we were only sitting 5 rows from the stage so, now I’m totally freaking as we are waiting knowing that within like, the next 25 minutes, this sex god will be right in front of me. We’re waiting and the lights go down and Blythe Danner comes out. Which, was pretty damn cool as it is cause she a friggin huge star. And then Gale. He walks out and litterly, my breath caught in my throat, I gasped, put my hand over my mouth and tears welled up in my eyes. No joke, I sat like that for almost 5 minutes straight. It was un-FUCK-ingbelievable. I couldn’t fathom that he was so close to me and that litterly, I could have thrown something and it would have hit him, he was so close. lol. About 20-25 minutes passed before I stopped shaking and actually started focusing on the show itself. I kid you not, he could have been standing there for 90 minutes saying nothing, and I would have been just as thrilled.

Play ends. I push Nicole out of the theater and we get our place in the front of the “signing line” and just wait. I don’t know how the conversation started, but I ended up becoming like, BFF with these two girls, one my age and another woman. HUGE Gale fans, as well, and we spent our whole time out there talking about how we had no idea what the hell the play was about beforehand and it didn’t really matter, because we were only there for Gale, and sharing myspace/live journal stories…omg, it was hysterical. I loved being out there with other people who totally understood why I was out there as well. Made me feel like less of a nutjob, ya know?

In the midst of this, this chick I spot is wearing a white sweatshirt and on the back it says, “Mrs. Gale Harold”. I was DYING. I went over to her and I was like, “That’s kick ass. I love it.” And she’s like, “I got it at Cafepress!” lol. Minutes later, there he is. Mr. Gale Morgan Harold walks out and again, the god damned shaking starts. And mind you, little ticket window guy made it obvious to us before Gale walked out that no pictures were to be taken of Gale. And me and the girl simutainiously are like, “We know!!” lol. So, of course, some jackass has to take a fuckin picture and the look on this mans face was like, I can’t even explain. It was a mix of fear and anger and I felt angry FOR him, you know? I mean, if your there to see him, your a fan, hense you should know the whole no picture rule. And even so, it was announced to you anyway, so, why do it? Ugh, people. But, it gets better.

So, he’s passing throught the line and he comes up to me and some lady gave me a silver marker to give to Gale so he could sign my Playbill, so, I hand it to him and I’m like, “To Brynne.” Like a timid loser. lmao. And he’s like, “How do you spell that?” Inside I’m going, “OMFG!! He just spoke to me.” hahaha. I spelled it and he signed it and moved on but I kept my eyes glued to him the whole time. Some girl had the QAF book for him to sign and another one had the box to season two of QAF and he totally signed both. I was like, ‘Dammit! I should have brought something like that!’ He gets to the girl with the sweatshirt and she turns around and his face was priceless. Everyone just starts laughing and he’s like, “What should I write?” lol. He wrote “I DO!” on it and then signed her playbill. AWSOME. lol. That was a def. highlight of the day, too. I must say.

He walked inside after being given two gifts and Nicole said we should go, he’s not gonna come back out. And I’m like, yes he is. He came out like, 3 minutes later and proceedes to just walk off around the corner of the building and leave. BY HIMSELF! I just thought, ‘I think maybe he should have someone with him, you know?’ But, Nicole turns to me and is like, “Wanna go see where he went?” And I’m like, uh, YEAH!! Go around the corner and BOOM! He’s gone. He was wearing like, black skinny, emo-type jeans, a black pea-coat and a black-rimmed hat and as he dissapeared, it just felt to me like he was the invisble man, but in a “man in the yellow hat” type way from Curious George, except in black. lol.

Yeah, I was kinda bummed but we just start walking to get a cab and Nicole all of a sudden goes, “Uh, hello? There he is!” He was just waiting at the corner for the cars to pass, lookin all sexy and whatnot. He now has a mini-entourage of girls following him around the streets of New York City and I figured, what the hell. I wanna see where the guy’s going, right? About 3 minutes later, I was like, ok, this is going no where fast, he has no clue people are following him and it’s kinda stalker-ish to being following him like that so, I stopped. :P

And here comes the best part. I spaced and forgot to tell Nicole about his whole no pictures thing and she was in the corner on the phone when the announcement was made about it. Lets just say I now have actual proof I met Gale Harold from when he was signing my Playbill to when he was on the street corner. Thank GOD her phone doesn’t have a flash cause I would have been so embarrassed!! I guess she wanted to take pictures, knowing that I didn’t have a camera and I guess it didn’t cross her mind to ask me why I wasn’t using the one I had.

SO, this was my very exciting day in NYC meeting Gale Harold. I think I will def. remember this one for a while. Be jealous, everyone. It’s okay, you are allowed. lol.

ALEXIS: I have been wanting to write this for a couple of days now but it’s hard to sit down and type out the whole experience. It was such a wild weekend. After searching and searching I finally stumbled upon tickets to the closing night of Suddenly Last Summer, believe me I was hysterical! The cheapest way for me to get to New York was by bus so Friday night I left Toronto and took the 11 hour bus ride to New York. We arrived Saturday morning at 8 am and I was ready to begin my trip, we arrived to the theatre to get our tickets around noon. I believe what someone quaoted about Gale fans taking all the tickets because there was a line of people who kept asking to get tickets and there was nothing available and from the crowd after the show you could tell the majority of the tickets were taken by Gale fans. Now to the play, of course I could barely keep my eyes of Gale. It was nice to see him in a completely different acting light! The play was amazing, I was shaking and almost crying by the end of it. I ran outside the theatre afterwards as I didn’t want to miss anything, especially coming so far! We waited maybe 30-45 mins at least that is what it seemed and Gale came out.. WOW! There really are no words to explain the man is simply amazing! He started signing autographs and made his way over to me, he was soo polite. I told him that his Canadian fans missed him and he said that he missed his Canadians. I told him he needs to come back up and he said he would. I got my autograph and although I didn’t want to seem rude but I asked if he would mind signing another one and he was very polite about it. He started hugging girls or handshaking and he went down the line. I went a little further because I was waiting for Blythe to come out, I ended up getting another autograph on the back of my ticket and I figured I would ask for a hug because I would probably regret it if I didn’t. He said he stopped doing that because he was getting mulled and I said I could really understand that! he kind of smiled. I saw what the other girl was saying about getting the photo of Blythe and Gale, he didn’t look happy at all. And then they were off going quickly down the street. I just kinda ran back to my hotel because I thought it would be rude to follow..next day I was on the bus ride for 12 hours to get back home with a giant grin on my face the entire time! What an amazingly polite and handsome man!
